Jeanette Ray Peterson
January 30, 1930 – June 27, 2025
Jeanette Ray Peterson of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Fine Care Adult Family Home in Tacoma. She was born on January 30, 1930, at Saint Joseph Hospital to Verna M. Morris and Glenn Irving Russell and was a lifelong resident of Tacoma.
Jeanette graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. She went on to work for the Internal Revenue Service, Puget Sound National Bank, and at the Fort Lewis Accounting Department, where she retired in 1995. Known for her dedication and attention to detail, she brought a steady, caring presence to her work and home life alike.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor A. Peterson; her parents; her brother, James C. Russell; her sister, Wilma L. Russell-Paul-Campbell; and her daughter-in-law, Sook-Hui Kim-Peterson.
Jeanette had a lifelong love for dogs and always had one by her side. Her home was filled with warmth, companionship, and the gentle rhythm of daily care for others, both two- and four-legged.
She was a longtime member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tacoma, where she faithfully managed the accounting and supported the church community with strength and grace.
The family is deeply grateful to Fredrick Murigu, Catherine Maina, and the staff at Fine Care Adult Family Home for their many years of loving and exceptional care.
She is survived by her children: Glen A. Peterson of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Carl V. Peterson (Claudia) of Yakima, Washington; and Janet E. Peterson of Tacoma. Her grandchildren — Alexander A. Peterson of San Diego, California; Luke M. Peterson of Seattle; and Nicholas R. Peterson of Yakima, Washington — brought her great joy, and she followed their lives with love and pride.
