Jay Lynn Shaw's Obituary
Jay was born 2/1/1940 in Kimball, NE and passed away peacefully 1/12/2006, in University Place, WA with family at his side. He was recently preceded in death (12/24/2005) by his father, Eugene W. Shaw. He is survived by his mother, LuVerne Shaw of Lakewood; wife, Antonietta of Tacoma; brothers, Jim Shaw of University Place and Bob Shaw of Parker, CO; daughters, Tracey Shaw of El Monte, CA and Lynda Shaw-Ferguson of Gig Harbor; son Orin Shaw of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; stepson Kenneth Vogele of Placerville, CA. He also leaves three grandchildren.Since serving in the US Navy in the early 60Â's, Jay has been an on-road, off-road truck driver for over 30 years and recently retired as a driver for USF Reddaway. He was a fellow friend, Brother and Past President of FOE Aerie #2933 and was a member of Amvets, always helping out when needed. There was nothing this man wouldnÂ't do for another in need.Jay loved camping at Eagle Valley and creating his favorite (and famous) chili for the EaglesÂ' chili feeds.He was in for the long haul, for he was a truck driver for many miles and hours down the long highway. Now his journey is on another highway where he will travel with no pain.Memorials may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way, University Place, WA 98466.A memorial celebration of JayÂ's Life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, Jan 22, 2006, at the South Tacoma Eagles Lodge Aerie #2933, 7037 South Pine Street, Tacoma. A potluck dinner will follow. A commitment service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, Jan 23, 2006, at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
