Jared M Harney's Obituary
Jared M Harney, 33, passed away on September 19, 2019. He was born in Manchester, NH on August 4, 1986, the son of Michael and the late Kimberly (McKendall) Harney.
After high school, Jared joined the Army and proudly served his country for 8 years. He completed three tours of duty as a Specialist E4 in Afghanistan and Iraq. Jared began working at Cooks Tavern 3 years ago, where he started as a dishwasher, and worked his way up to cook. He was developing a passion for cooking and enjoyed learning everything he could about the restaurant business and the back of the house. In his off time, he enjoyed playing Disc Golf, playing the guitar, listening to music, and playing video games with friends. Jared simply loved learning, especially history. He could be found listening to educational podcasts about all sorts of topics. Every year, Jared believed it was his sacred duty to observe Memorial and Veteran's Days by attending a military service. Afterwards, he would add his own flare by setting off fireworks to celebrate.
Jared is survived by his father Michael and Step-Mother Dorothy; Sister, Karen Harney Woerheide; Aunts, Kyle, Kristin, Kit, Beth, Sarah, Karen, and Chrissie and their spouses; Maternal Grandfather, Babu; maternal grandmothers Patricia and Jane; and Paternal Grandmother Ann Harney. In addition to his mother, Jared is predeceased by his Paternal Grandfather, Pat Harney who just passed away only two years ago.
A celebration of Jared’s life will be held from 7pm to 10pm on Monday, September 30, at the Narrows Bridge VFW, Post 10018; 4741 North Baltimore; Tacoma, WA.
