Janis K Wegleitner's Obituary
Born December 14, 1948, Janis Kathleen Wegleitner passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022 at Franciscan Care Hospice House. She was 73 years old. Preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ruby Martin, husband Aloys Wegleitner and her beloved dog, Benji, Janis is survived by her sons Frank (Kerri) and Ron (Holly), her sister Judy (Ken) Mensching, and her grandchildren Samantha, Alissa, Griffin, Johnathan and Kaitlyn, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. A private family service will be held at Mountain View on April 22, 2022.
A lifelong Tacoma resident, Janis worked for over 20 years for Tacoma General Hospital. In 1968, she married Aloys Wegleitner and they welcomed sons Frank and Ron. Al and Jan raised their boys in the Eastside of Tacoma and formed lifelong friendships. The family loved hunting and camping together, often in large groups of family and friends.
Janis was very proud of her sons and grandchildren and loved each of them for their individuality and supported them in their endeavors. She was never happier then when the family was together for holidays and special occasions. She especially loved attending her grandchildren’s games, matches, concerts and other events, and proudly attended high school graduations.
In recent years, Jan was a member of the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed cruises, traveling with senior center friends and day trips with grandchildren to Mt. Rainier and local zoos. She loved to cheat during family card games, working puzzles and playing her slot machines.
Jan always gave from the heart and wanted nothing in return. She will be sorely missed, but not forgotten, by all who knew her.
