Janina McGinnis' Obituary
Janina McGinnis, born in Philadelphia, PA on June 18, 1919 to immigrant parents Cyprian and Agnis Borek, passed away in Tacoma, WA on December 30, 2003 at the age of 84. She lived in Tacoma since 1946. Jan or Grandma Jane is survived by her sons Robert (Lillian) of Sumner, John (Nancy) of Tacoma, grandchildren Robert Jr., Rachelle, Kathy and great-grandchildren Bobbi, Danielle, Cole and many friends and family who also referred to her as Â"Grandma JaneÂ". She is also survived by siblings Joseph (Emily) and Mirianna Borek of Philadelphia. Hardworking all her life, Janina was one of the original Â"Rosie the RivetersÂ" working at a ball bearing manufacturing plant helping the boys overseas. After the war, she worked at DayÂ's Tailoring in Tacoma, then the Boeing Co. in Renton where she retired after 28 years. She was a member of Aerospace Machinists 751 and active in the 751 Retirement Club. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A viewing will be held at Mt. View Funeral Home on January 6, 2004 from 1:00-9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 2:00PM in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Remembrances may be sent, Â"In memory of Janina McGinnis to the Franciscan Care CenterÂ", 6620 S. Alaska St., Tacoma, WA 98408. A special thank you to her doctors and the nursing staff of St. JosephÂ's Hospital and the Franciscan Care Center of Tacoma for their special care of Grandma Jane.
