Janice "Robin" Danley's Obituary
Janice "Robin" Danley walked on December 30th, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington, where she was a long time resident. Robin was born on February 24th, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, to Russell Danley and Aloma Whitright Danley.
Robin was an enrolled member of the Assiniboine-Sioux Tribe, Fort Peck, Montana. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized on October 14th, 1975.
For many years Robin was able to get around Tacoma and the surrounding areas on her own, by bus, no less! She enjoyed her independence at this time and was fearless. Robin was an avid Tacoma Stars soccer fan, attending many of the games. Robin knew every player by name and they knew her name.
Robin's father walked on January 20th, 2007, and after, her mother walked on April 19th, 2010.Robin continued living in the family home, where she was cared for by her sister, Gail. Robin had many health issues and challenges, and in September of 2012, she went to live in a care home operated by Aacres, later known as Dungarvin.
Robin enjoyed attending plays and musicals at the 5th Ave Theatre and the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. She also attended many concerts in the Seattle and Tacoma area. Robin was always accompanied by a caretaker on these outings.
Everyone who knew Robin, from relatives to caretakers, will tell you she could be frustrating and determined to have her way no matter what, and at other times she could be easy-going and humorous. To know Robin was to love her.
Robin is survived by her son, Christian Danley, and her granddaughter, Myah. She will be missed by her sisters, Gail, Deanna, Lainey, Judith, and Cheryl. Her only brother, Russell, preceded her in death on June 10th, 1989. Robin also leaves behind many family members...aunts, nieces and nephews, and many, many cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff and caretakers at Aacres and Dungarvin for their unfailing devotion to Robin's care and wellbeing, the Washington State Department of Developmental Disabilities, and the many healthcare professionals that cared for Robin over the years. A very special thank you to the staff at Mountain View Funeral Home.
Robin's visitation is scheduled for Wednesday February 5th from 12pm to 6pm at the main office of Mountain View Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday February 6th a formal service at the Celebration of Life Center Aspen Chapel at 10am with a reception to follow, and a committal service at Tahoma National Cemetery at 1:30pm the same day.
