Janet Rusler's Obituary
Janet was born in Tacoma, WA to Phyllis (Anderson) Allen and Leland “Roy” Allen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967 and went on to work as a service representative for Pacific Northwest Bell. When her daughter Jennifer and son Jeff were toddlers, she stepped away to become a full-time mom, classroom volunteer, and eventually a PTA board member. A number of years later, she returned to work in her favorite job as assistant office manager at James Sales Elementary School, where she remained until her retirement in 2015.
Janet loved caring for her beautiful yard and creating colorful hanging baskets and planters for her patio and as gifts for her turn hosting the monthly bingo party. She enjoyed sewing gifts for her family, pets, and also hats that she donated to the outpatient oncology clinic following her first round of cancer treatment. She absolutely loved spending time with her granddaughters Maddy and Makayla and attending all of their sporting and school events. She enjoyed trips with her husband Jack, including several to Hawaii, cruises with friends and family, and touring wine country. Every year, she looked forward to a summer trip to the ocean with her friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Phyllis Allen, infant son Michael Kevin Rusler, and her sister Mary (Allen) Matthees. She will be deeply missed by her husband Jack Rusler, daughter Jennifer (Josh) Grbich of Puyallup, son Jeffrey Rusler of Puyallup, granddaughters Madeline and Makayla Grbich, brother-in-law Scott Matthees of Tacoma, brother-in-law Gregory (Sandra) Rusler of Puyallup, and several nephews and nieces.
Until we meet again, we love you to the moon and back!
