Jane Graham Tuttle's Obituary
Jane Graham Tuttle, a beacon of warmth and hospitality, passed away on August 11, 2024. Born in Sunnyside, WA, on December 28, 1935, Jane’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and joy.
Jane’s early years were marked by a brief move to Colorado with her family at the age of 10, just after WWII, before returning to Washington. She graduated from Centralia High School, where she shone as a cheerleader, a Rainbow Worthy Advisor, and the first chair violinist. Her musical talents extended to the piano, where she delighted in playing her baby grand.
A proud University of Washington alumna, Jane pledged PHI U and remained a lifelong Dawg fan. She worked at the UW bookstore and downtown Frederick & Nelsons in the jewelry department. Her adventurous spirit took her to Oahu, Hawaii, before she returned to marry her future husband, Robert Landon Tuttle, on November 15, 1958. Shortly after they were married, Jane and Don Tuttle enjoyed living in a house boat on Lake Union before finding their forever-family home on Wapato Lake
where they raised three sons: Sam, Craig, and Tom.
Jane’s professional life included roles as an administrative assistant for Dr. Pizorik and as the head cook at Pacific Lutheran University from 1982 to 1994. She also volunteered tirelessly in the PTA at Birney Elementary, earning the “Golden Acorn” award, and was a dedicated “room mom” for her sons.
Jane’s passions were many. She enjoyed cooking, playing the Pitch Card Game and Bunco Dice game, and spending time with her Red Hat friends and garage sale “grannys.” Her Wapato Lake home was a haven of hospitality, where holidays, family gatherings, and her sons’ friends were always welcomed with open arms.
Jane is survived by her younger brother, George Graham, and her youngest sister, Nancy (Graham) Hague, who will miss her dearly. She leaves behind her sons: Sam Hamilton Tuttle (Maggie Knudtson), Craig Graham Tuttle (Mary Leeper), and Thomas Patrick Tuttle (Stacy McGrath). Jane was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: TJ Tuttle, Allison Tuttle, Eric Tuttle, Olivia Smith (Levi Smith), Raef Tuttle, and Tate Tuttle, and two great-grandchildren: Ava Jane and Brooklynn Marie.
Jane lived a life of service, worked hard, and loved unconditionally. She touched many lives and made everyone better. Her legacy of love and kindness will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
