Jan Barbara Seferian's Obituary
Jan Barbara Seferian, passed away on July 2, 2023. She had just celebrated her 91st birthday. Jan was born on June 16th, 1932, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Jan attended Julliard School of Music, where she met her late husband, Edward. She performed in off-Broadway productions, along with performances at the New York City Opera. After moving to Tacoma where Edward had accepted a teaching position at the University of Puget Sound, she supported him in the development of the Tacoma Symphony. For many years, she was an avid supporter of the arts in the community and spent countless hours in her role with the Tacoma Symphony women. Jan was a devoted wife and mother. She was also a caring teacher to her vocal students and truly enjoyed providing them support. Jan was a treasured friend to many and she will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and son, Edward and Marc. Surviving family members include her two daughters, Susan and Linda; her grandchildren, Austin, Edward, Michaela and Genevieve; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Aug 5th at 3:00pm at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Ed Seferian Scholarship fund at the University of Puget Sound.
