Jamila A. Birdine's Obituary
Jamila Annette Birdine was born on May 23, 1978 in Yakima, Washington to the parents of Brenda Jones and Gerald Pleasant. She was also raised by Gregory Jones. Jamila was one of four children.
Jamila attended Bethel High School in Graham, Washington where she was a part of the band. She loved to play clarinet and perform/compete. Jamila graduated with honors in 1996.
Jamila went on to have a long and dedicated career in the military, active duty and reserves, as a Supply Specialist for 20 years, where she achieved completion from Unit Supply Specialty, reaching the rank of Sergeant and numerous other achievements.
During her time in the US Army, Jamila had three beautiful children. She also attended Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Medicine and Humanities.
Jamila had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. She spent time in Africa where she was active in missionary work. She enjoyed teaching what she knew about the Bible. Jamila was an active member of St. John's Church/Transformation Ministries International and Women of Influence (WOI) Bible study.
Jamila is survived by her children O'Shawn Allen, Kia Cannonier, and Philip Cannonier; her mother Brenda Jones; father Gerald Pleasant; Gregory Jones; brothers Lavell Smalley and Gregory Pleasant and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her brother Jamaal Jones, Christopher Jones and Daryl Jones.
Jamila had a heart so big. She will always be remembered. Keep flying high, little bird.
