James William Quick's Obituary
James William Quick, son of Robert and Dixie Lester Quick, was born on January 3rd, 1929 in Memphis, TN. Mr. Quick enlisted in the United States Navy on July 22, 1947. As a submariner, he served onboard the following submarines: USS Sea Leopard, USS Tigrone, USS Corsair, USS Sarda, and USS Trench. In 1957 he was commissioned as a Naval officer in Newport, RI, where he held leadership positions on board a tug boat and rescue salvage ship (USS Papago and USS Current). He was the commanding officer of the USS Takelma in Norfolk, VA. He then retired as a Lieutenant Commander in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 29, 1970. Mr. Quick served during the Vietnam War and during his Naval career he earned many medals.Mr. Quick died at St. ClareÂ's Hospital in Lakewood, WA, on May 12, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Hwa Sun, and daughter, Cherry Ann, in Puyallup, WA. He is also survived by sister Virginia Villareal in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
