James H. Wilbert's Obituary
James Howard Wilbert, a man of unwavering dedication and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 12, 1943, James lived a life marked by service, loyalty, and a zest for adventure.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years, achieving the esteemed rank of Sergeant First Class (E7) before retiring. His military career was a testament to his commitment and bravery, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers.
After his military service, James found a new calling as a security guard, where he continued to protect and serve his community with the same dedication he showed in the Army. His watchful eye and kind heart made him a beloved figure among his colleagues and those he safeguarded.
Outside of work, James was a man of simple pleasures and great passions. He could often be found at the Emerald Queen Casino, where he enjoyed the thrill of the games and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His love for horse racing took him frequently to Emerald Downs, where he reveled in the excitement of the races and the beauty of the horses.
James's life was a rich tapestry of service, joy, and adventure. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and a treasure trove of memories for those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. James will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery.

James is survived by his son Jeffrey Wilbert, daughter-in-law Amanda Wilbert, grandsons Lucas and Benjamin Wilbert, sister Laverne Rawlins, brothers Ed Dawson and Stevie Dawson, and ex-spouse Evelyn Brianne. His parents (deceased) are Charlie Wilbert and Nealie Abner (Dawson). James' nephews are Devin and Keltin Dawson and nieces are Dominique and Shykira Samson and Neyma Moore. His list of cousins is a testament to a family of love and kindness: Kim, Jamiya, Jasmine, Lisa, Ebony, Sheila, Jennifer, Cora, Ruby, Morris, Floyd JR, Larry, Royce, Kent, Clifford, Marilyn, Brandon, Bryan, Anthony, Steven, Larry JR, Yolanda, Cameron, Cole, Royce JR, Gavin, Courtney, Rayonte and Evan, whom all preside in Arkansas. His California family includes Evelyn and her family.
