James A. Shook (Jim)
Jim was born in Spokane, WA., on Oct. 14, 1934, and passed away on Aug. 6th, 2016.
In the late 50’s he moved to the Tacoma area, where he began working for the Boeing Company, going to school at the College of Puget Sound, and where in 1957 he met his future wife Edie. They were wed in 1958. Jim lived a full life. Auto Cross Racing, the 1st of many cruises teaching ballroom dancing, and Puyallup Elks Exalted Ruler all in the 1960’s. He and his wife taught ballroom dancing locally for 27 years starting in the 1970’s and continued teaching on cruise ships off and on until 2003, teaching on 19 of the 51 cruises they eventually took. Jim was President of the Boeing Recreation Council in 1990 and again the Puyallup Elks Exalted Ruler in 1999. While all of this was going on, starting in the 1950’s, both he and his wife worked at Boeing until retirement.
Jim is survived by his wife Edie, his sister Wilma Seiber, Brother Richard Shook (Kay), and Nephews Bruce (Linda), Roger (Robin), Dale (Sally), and Mike Seiber and all of their children and grandchildren.
A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, August 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Puyallup Elks Lodge 314 27th St. N.E., Puyallup.
