James Richard's Obituary
James Pelvin Richard, a long term resident of Tacoma passed away on September 3, 2013 at the age of 86.
Born in Hempstead County Arkansas on December 27, 1926 to Jimmie and Addie Richard, James joined the Army in 1945 completing basic training at Fort Lewis as a medical aide and served in Japan during World War II. James, a committed veteran reenlisted to serve in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars to care for his fellow soldiers in combat. He went on to serve obtaining the rank of Master Sargent which included assignment to Madigan as Chief Ward Master, retiring in 1974.
James with his wife Lindia operated Lin & J's restaurant in Tacoma from 1985 1994. James was preceded in death by Lindia in 2012 and his former wife Roylee in 1972. He leaves behind an extended family and long term friends who will remember his devotion to Lindia, compassion for others, especially the sick, and the deep honor he felt in being a veteran.
Services will be held on September 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View in Lakewood, with viewing on September 11th. James will be interned at Tahoma National Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled Veterans of America at DAV.org.
