James "Kirby" Pitman's Obituary
James “Kirby” Pitman
Kirby was born on March 26, 1923 in Meridian, Idaho to Charles and Vivian (Cone) Pitman. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 23, 2015.
Kirby graduated from Vale High School in Vale, Oregon. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army prior to the end of WWII where he proudly served this great country until retiring in 1964, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his career in the U.S. Army Kirby and his wife Barbara settled here in Tacoma.
In the course of his life Kirby spent some time as an auctioneer, taxi driver/owner, realtor, tax consultant, and as a pilot. Kirby was a jack of all trades and a master of many.
Kirby was good humored , outgoing, strong willed, loving and very independent.
Kirby was preceded in death by his wife Barbara of 49 years, and his sister Ione Lambert. Kirby is survived by his brother C. Harvey (Eleanor) Pitman of Boise, ID, his sons Kirby (Cleo) of Weatherford, TX, Charlie (Joan) of Bothell, WA, daughters Nancy Bradley of West Monroe, LA, Jackie Kuwik of Roy, WA, Sue Morgan of Boise, ID, and Cindy Pitman of Tacoma, WA. Kirby also had 12 grand children and numerous great grand children.
Kirby will be sorely missed by all those that he touched.
