James N. Sommer's Obituary
James Nicholas Sommer, born March 4, 1957; passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2011. Jim lived a full life in 54 short years, and touched the lives of all who knew him. Jim was the consummate renaissance man, with talents ranging from singing with his gifted baritone voice to acting in various plays, and a love of music he shared with his wife Shirley of 34 years. He was an avid reader. He was also a dedicated golfer and a member of the TOY golf club. He was a student of the world and curious about all things in it. Jim retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant after 20 years of service. During his time of service he and his young family lived first in Arkansas, where he received his undergraduate degree in communications. The family settled in Lakewood, WA in 1990. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked at Cable Craft in Tacoma. Jim is survived by wife Shirley, sons Paul and John, his father Jim, loving sisters Annie and Mary, several nieces and nephews, and many friends whom he touched throughout his life. He was predeceased by his mother Madeline. The services will be held on Thursday, April 7th, 2011 in the Mountain View Celebration Life Center / Aspen Chapel. Viewing will be from 1 PM-2 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2PM. Immediately following there will be a reception at the RAM Restaurant in Lakewood. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
