James McGee's Obituary
James L. McGee, Sr. was born April 22, 1921 to Clifton and Cora McGee in Texas. He was one of eleven children. He passed away at home on the morning of February 1st, 2011.
James joined the military at a young age and served his country with honor until leaving the military in 1958. During his time in the military, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. After working as a longshoremen and Boeing for a few years, he then worked at Madigan Hospital (Ft. Lewis, WA) until he retired in 1983. Prior to retiring, he achieved the position of supervisor of the Madigan Hospital food service department where he received several awards and recognition for outstanding service. Upon his retirement, James lived a good life working on cars, working in his garden, being a fix-it man, and enjoying his wife, family, daughter, son and grandchildren.
James met his wife-to-be while serving in the military in Germany. They were married on January 31st, 1958 and have enjoyed 53 years of marriage. They settled down and lived in Tacoma, Washington in 1958.
James is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Laresa Hill; son-in-law, Creighton Hill; son, James Jr.; daughter-in-law, Susan McGee; grandchildren, T.C. Hill, Lafreda Hill, Brittany McGee and Jordan McGee; brother, Clifton McGee; sister, Mable Stanton; and many nephews and nieces.
James was a good man who will be missed but never forgotten as he filled the hearts of many with his kind words and positive attitude. He was one of the good guys.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 7, 2011 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
