hey james whats up we all miss you so very much. its almost been a year sence you died and left us for a better place. I think of you all the time wondering how you are doing. we didnt talk alot but the times we did talk was in mr wralstads science class. and when we were in 3rd grade you were the coolest person in that class. I didnt know anybody in that class and you made me feel comfortable. I have never been popular but you didnt care you just wanted to hang out with everybody you re such a wonderful person and i will miss you untill i see you up in heaven i cant wait till then when i can get to know you better untill then james i will start to write you more maybe once a week ok rock the stars james and keep smiling :)

James was a sweet guy. He was taught well and was a lot of fun in History in 7h grade and P.E. this year, 9th grade. I feel horrible about the death of James. I just want you to know that he was so very loved and lived life to it's fullest. He was and still will always be a spectacular guy. He is being missed. I want to express my deepest of sympathies to you both. My sons and I will dearly miss James, as I feel everyone who ever knew him will.
Buddy, his father, and I attended the funeral yesterday. I want to express to you both how touched I was by your courage and strength to address this terrible thing that has occurred. The message given in the obituary and the service itself sought to express the love James felt for all the those in his life - and included the affirmation of "choosing life". This awed me,that in your grief and dispair, you thought to comfort and support all James' friends, as well as their parents, in coping with this terrible thing in a 'loving' or 'positive' way. This is not only commendable, it is really quite extrordinary. I want to thank you for this as it has helped my son tremendously, for I must admit he was ( and still is )struggling with his hurt and pain.
Again, I acknowledge your strength and courage for helping us all in this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers will be with.

Dear Doug and Cathy,
You might remember me as one of the Jansen girls' friends, who spent a lot of time soaking up family time vicariously at Pa's house in Seattle and then later at the farmhouse on Vashon. I was a lost and lonely soul in those days. The two of you welcomed me into the family and provided warmth and humor during a hard adolescence. I turned out okay! and have a 16 year old daughter of my own now. So I know there's nothing I can say to ease any of your grief at losing James. But from my own experience in knowing you, and from receiving your affection and wisdom as a teenager myself, I wanted to say that no love is ever wasted, and James was blessed to have you as parents.
