James Leo Kennedy's Obituary
Born in Tacoma on November 24, 1920 and died in the place of his birth on July 2, 2010 after his long battle with Parkinson's. Dad graduated from Lincoln High at the age of 16 after staying in school an extra year to graduate with his twin sister. Married Virginia in 1942 and last December celebrated 67 years together. Dad and mom raised two children together in a home they built themselves. They spent the years after the Second World War working in the building materials industry up until his early retirement in 1978. With mom, he lived out his dream by retiring to Hawaii where they built a home together on the big island. To be closer to family and old friends, in 1991 they returned to Tacoma to take up residence in a retirement community. An avid woodworker, he also loved fishing and playing cribbage. He was a devoted husband, loving father and lasting friend to many. In addition to mom, he is survived by his two children, Jim and Ginene, and their families. At dad's request no services are planned.
