James "Jim" R. Splaine's Obituary
James "Jim" Richard Splaine, age 76, died suddenly September, 29, 2020, at his home in Puyallup, Washington.
He was born November, 21, 1943, to Liola and James Splaine in Bremerton, Washington. He graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1962. He was captain of his high school football team. On Aug. 25, 1964, he joined the U.S. Navy. On Feb. 5, 1967, he received an honorable discharged as a personnel man petty officer second class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
He graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Bachelor of Arts. On May 27, 1978, he married Carol Ann Piccolotto. They had two children, James Michael and Jessica Marie.
He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, “Star Wars” movies and trying his odds at the local casinos. He also enjoyed working in his garden to make sure he had the best-looking yard in the neighborhood. He had a passion for cars, too, relishing driving around town in a flashy car. Over the years, he also loved his boxers Rocky, Scooter, Hercules, Zeus and Apollo. Jim spent the majority of his career working as an operations manager for the Bon Marche/Macy’s.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Carol; mother, Liola Splaine; father, James Splaine; and grandma, Pearl (Nan) Splaine.
Jim is survived by James “Jimmy” (Marie) Splaine and Jessica (Seth) Canfield; grandchildren Carson and Allison Splaine and Ellie and Elijah Canfield; and sister, Donna Martin.
The family will hold a service at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, Mountain View Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, attendance cannot exceed 30.
