James Fullwood Jr.'s Obituary
James Ira Fullwood Jr (JayJay), 38 years old, passed into eternity on Thursday, February 11, 2021, in his home at 776 Commerce Street, Apartment 1004, Tacoma, Washington.
James Jr, the son of retired USAF Chief Master Sergeant James I Fullwood Sr, was born on September 9, 1982 in Madigan Army Medical Center, Tacoma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Marie Hallbach Fullwood. Early on as an Air Force dependent 1983-1992, he attended schools in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Atwater, California, and McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, where he played soccer, baseball, basketball, and bowling. Some of his achievements include: two years as an Honor Student; one of only three students awarded the Super Gold Medal for the Annual Math Olympics; and received the 1st Place award from the McGuire Air Force Base Support Group Commander for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program school poster contest.
He returned to Washington State in 1992 where he attended Shining Mountain Elementary School and Bethel Junior High School in Spanaway. He received a certificate of appreciation from the McChord Chapter of the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) for assisting his father, Chapter President. JayJay attended Clover Park High School in Lakewood where he was a cadet in the Air Force Junior ROTC program his first two years, aspiring to become an Air Force pilot. He attended Pierce College under the Running Start program during his last two years and graduated with the Class of 2000.
JayJay continued working in the food services industry where he started during high school. He was a bartender at the Mucklesh0ot Casino in Auburn and worked at the Almond Roca factory in Tacoma and the Amazon warehouse in Kent. He worked part-time in the tree service business with his best friend, Corey Lemon.
From 2012 to 2019, He received two certificates of appreciation for supporting several events sponsored by the Ron Blatman Evergreen Chapter of the Air Force Security Forces Association (AFSFA), including the 2012 McChord Air Show, the 2014 National Conference in Seattle, and a memorial service with the family of Ron Blatman.
JayJay is survived by his sisters, Melinda Hallbach Patterson (Travis) of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Michelle Marie Lynn of Spanaway, Washington and brother, Michael Anthony Hallbach of Parkland, Washington, in addition to many cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.
JayJay maintained a loving relationship with his family and touched the lives of everyone he knew by the examples he set. His eagerness to help and support friends and
neighbors was one of his greatest attributes. JayJay was a technology enthusiast who enjoyed reading, bowling, and music, with Janet Jackson being one of his favorite artists. He will be dearly missed.
