James Franklin Banks' Obituary
James Franklin Banks, of Spanaway, Washington, died in his home on September 23, 2010. James was born in East New Market, Maryland, to John and Martha Banks. His parents had 14 children (7 girls and 7 boys), and James was the youngest boy. James was educated in Cambridge, Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force and retired after 23 years from the U.S. Army Infantry, earning numerous medals and decorations. James also retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier where he received the Bicentennial Award. He was also a lifetime member of DAV and AMVETs; and an usher for many years at the Main Chapel on Fort Lewis. James is survived by his cherished wife Ilse of 62 years; his beloved daughters, Sylvia Thomas (Tom), Diane Harris, and Sandy Davis (Sherman); grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy), Brian, Jason (Karla), Joel, Justin and Nicole Tippin (James); great granddaughters, Olivia and Angela. Also left behind are brothers, sisters, friends and relatives. His favorite pastimes were reading, gardening, and watching sports. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on October 1, 2010 in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA.
