James Downs' Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of James Downs announces his passing away on December 14, 2017 at the age of 70 years.
Orphaned by the Korean War at a young age Jim was found on a dock in Pusan, Korea by the crew of the USS Mount McKinley who adopted him as a “mascot” for the ship before being adopted by a Seventh Day Adventist Missionary couple in Washington State.
In 1973 he began his career as a medical transporter for Virginia Mason Hospital where he mentored and taught multiple generations of coworkers for over 40 years. Everyone who surrounded Jim will miss his incredible kindness, warm sense of humor and selfless dedication.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Patricia, his sons Tony and Isaac, and daughter Cherena. He is also survived by 2 grandsons Ron and Christian, and great-grandson Elijah.
