James Douglas Griffith's Obituary
Longtime Eatonville resident James Douglas -Å"Jim- Griffith, 69, died March 21, 2009, at Madigan Army Medical Center following a long and courageous battle with cardio-pulmonary disease.
Jim was born June 13, 1939, in Salt Lake City, UT, to the late Doug and Billie Griffith.
He and Charlotte Mae Flanner of Elsie, Michigan, married on December 2, 1960.
A member of the U. S. Air Force for 20 years, Jim was stationed in Montgomery, AL; North Hollywood, CA; Altus, OK; Anchorage, AK; and at McChord AFB in Tacoma. He served in Vietnam, and retired in 1977.
He moved his family to Eatonville in 1976, and spent 18 years as a machinist at Jesse Engineering.
In retirement, he enjoyed cooking, home improvements, and participating as a member of Tanwax Country Chapel.
His family wrote: -Å"Jim's strong spirit and great sense of humor inspired everyone who knew him. He lived his life fully and bravely.-
Jim was the beloved husband of Charlotte; loving father of sons James and John Griffith, and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Rodney Lamping; cherished -Å"Grandpa- to Breanna and Tyler Blair, Colton Griffith, and Logan Flanner; dear brother of Patsy McGlauthlin; and cherished brother-in-law and uncle to many.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Howard.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 pm, at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood. A reception will follow at Tanwax Country Chapel in Eatonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to the American Heart or Lung Association.
