James "Stan" Corrington's Obituary
Stan Corrington (James Stanley Corrington) was born on September 12, 1934, in Belleville, Illinois and passed away on June 7, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born to James Phillips Corrington and Irene Peach joining two sisters, Shirley, and Renee all who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly, sons and their wives, Brian and Sherrie, Scott and Debbie, Gary and Jen, grandsons Jake and Tyler, step grandsons Shane and Jordan Korneliussen and step great grandchildren Chase and Victoria Shelhorse.
He was a 1952 graduate of Belleville Township High School and went on to at-tend Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa, and was a graduate of the University of Washington. Stan was an accomplished athlete during his youth with outstanding achievements in track, football, and baseball. He served in the US Army from 1955-1957.
Stan had a fulfilling career working for Boeing, National Bank of Washington, Clover Park Vocational School, and Paccar. Most of his professional work was dedicated to teaching computers and programming. He was an active member of the University Place Community of Christ, where he served as a lay minister. His hobbies included softball, racquetball, dirt biking, volunteering, traveling, and keeping his cars immaculately clean. He volunteered several years for the city of University Place, served on the board of his COA for many years and volunteered at his church. He enjoyed traveling in the US and Europe. His favorite place was Croatia, the ancestral home of his wife.
He had a great sense of humor, and was kind, humble and caring. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A service to celebrate Stan’s life will be held on July 15th at noon at the University Place Community of Christ, followed by lunch. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Outreach International, 112 W 18th St, Kansas City, Missouri 64108, the Tacoma Rescue Mission or by donating blood to your local blood bank.
