James Andrew Conklin's Obituary
James A. Conklin, 92, flew his last mission on September 2, 2017. He was the last of 11 siblings. James was born, raised, and worked his entire life in Tacoma except for the War Years. He survived 30 bombing missions deep into German territory, flying as a crew member in the B-17 during WWII. James was a well known businessman, owner operator of the Sam Thornhill Co., a mobile service station on the Tacoma Tide Flats. He was a Mason and belonged to the Afifi Shriners. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Annie Frances, 4 children, James H (Eva), Irene G. Jacobs, Mary Ann Crossman, and John K (Jackie), 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
