James F. Closson's Obituary
James F. Closson, of Lakewood, Washington, passed away at the age of 85. James was born December 22, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a loving husband and father of four children. He is preceded in death by his wife Martha Closson and grandson Josh Hysell. He is survived by his daughters Carol Hysell (Jim), Susan Stephen (Scott), Michelle Closson (Tom), and son Glenn Closson. His grandchildren, Kristina Hysell, Jacob Stephen, and Christopher Closson, his great grandchildren, Addison Hysell and Xavier Stephen.
James served his country in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper and educator. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. His military decorations include Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Defense Campaign, Vietnam Counter-Offensive, Combat Infantry Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
He attended the University of Puget Sound receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business. James applied his many talents to volunteer work to help Vietnam veterans and children. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Mountain View Cemetery on Steilacoom Blvd. at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration to donate to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital and/or to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
