James Cain's Obituary
James Edward Cain, Sr. was born on August 30, 1930 in Greenville, Alabama. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma, Washington surrounded by his family. He was the second of nine children born to Edgar and Myrtle Lee Jackson Cain. The family later moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he was educated in the Birmingham Public School System. He graduated from the renowned A.H. Parker High School.Following high school, Mr. Cain attended Alabama State Teachers College. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1949-1953. While on active duty he served during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge. Following his active duty career, he worked for the military in Pittsburgh, California while attending school at the University of California, Berkeley.In 1954, Mr. Cain was transferred to Fort Lewis Army Base in Tacoma Washington as a Department of Army Civilian employee. He served for 44 faithful years retiring as Chief of Senior Enlisted Military Personnel in the AG Section at Ft. Lewis.In 1966 he met and married Jennell Oliphant and to that union was born one son, James Edward Cain, Jr. and one daughter Jawana Nell Cain. He was a devoted and beloved grandpa to his grandchildren.He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mrs. Jennell Cain, son, James E. Cain, Jr.(Boonee), daughters, Mrs. Iola Faye Harris Baker of Richmond California, Jawana Cain, Simone Taylor and grandchildren: Antoinette, Elijah, Samira, Taj, Kahlia and five great grandchildren, two brothers, Melvin Lewis Cain, Sr. and Timothy Cain, both of Birmingham, Alabama, two sisters, Mrs. Jeanne Cain Atkins, and Ms. Mary Lee Cain, both of Atlanta, Georgia, cousins Excell, Ellis and Fred Cain, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as other relatives and friends.Viewing will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, May 5, 2006 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at PilgrimÂ's Rest Baptist Church.
