James Bardsley's Obituary
Master Sergeant James A. Bardsley, US Army (Retired), 82, died at Madigan Army Medical Center on June 17, 2012.
He was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and enlisted in the Army in May 1947. Trained as an ordnance logistician, he served in numerous support units and depot assignments, retiring in June 1977 after more than 30 years of dedicated service to his country. During the Korean War he operated a supply point for the depot rebuild of combat vehicles. He served as a logistics advisor with the Japanese Self-Defense Force for three years and with the South Vietnamese Army as an Army supply advisor for the I Corps area. While serving with Eighth Army Headquarters in Korea he was instrumental in deploying new models of combat vehicles and weapons throughout the command. Serving 18 years in the Far East, his assignments included depots in Korea, Japan, and Okinawa.
His military decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (three awards), the Army Good Conduct Medal (ten awards), two Distinguished Unit Citations, and seven Service and Campaign Medals.
Survivors include Yuko, his wife of sixty years; son Ken and his wife Carol; daughter Mari Ann and her husband Perry; daughter Emi and her husband Rich; grandchildren Holly, Deborah, Thomas, Lydia, and Caleb; and great-granddaughter Chloe.
Private funeral services with full military honors will be held on June 21 at Mountain View Funeral Home.
