James A. Lunsford's Obituary
James A. Lunsford Age 90, formerly of Lakewood, died on September 15, 2008. He was born on Oct. 6, 1917 and raised on a farm in Keytesville, Missouri. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941. In 1944 he married Dortha Radebaugh. After extensive travel in Europe and the U. S., they settled in Tacoma in 1965. He subsequently retired from the Army after 34 years of service. Dortha died in 2002 after 57 years of marriage. In 2003, Jim met Doris ("Dorie") Weir at a church dinner. In 2006, they moved to the Woodlands Retirement Center in Lacey. Doris remained his devoted companion until his death. Jim was a "jack of all trades." He was also an avid gardener. He delighted in providing his neighbors, friends, and family with bouquets of roses from his rose garden and produce from his bountiful vegetable garden. He will be remembered for his quick wit, mischievous sense of humor, and playful nature. Jim is survived by Doris, daughters Sandra Fiacco (Sandy John) and Nancy Kellogg, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, brother Jay Lunsford (Elna), and sister Charlotte Thornton. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Mountain View Funeral Home's Garden Chapel in Lakewood.
