Jake was a fixture in the park...a caring, loving, friendly, funny man. He was a fierce advocate for protection and enhancement of OUR PARK. He went to all the Council meetings to remind them how important it is to keep it as close to natural as possible. They listened, and he was known and admired at city and county levels. He always chatted with the work crew. Jake has been our special friend for over 15 years, and was part of every day for us. He will be sorely missed...so much, by so many. He was a JOY!
Our love to all his dear family...Helen (a special lady and dear friend), and to Tom and Julie, and to Linda and the grandchildren. You don't know us, but we have heard about your lives, your successes, your children growing up, the precious family gatherings you have had....incredible memories. Jake was a great friend and neighbor to our family for 10 years. It was always great to see him at the end of a long shift at work. He kept an eye out for our girls as they played in the neighborhood or waited for the bus. Moving away from our Lakewood home was very difficult because of Jake & Helen and our other great neighbors. It was always great to see Jake after we moved away. He was more like family than a neighbor. We will all miss you.

Sorry to hear about Jake. We thought he would make it home from the hospital. Will miss him always asking how the kids were and he always bought Girl Scout cookies from my daughter. Our thoughts are with you.

To Jake's family I send my deepest sympathy to all of you. I am one of his "Girl Scouts" from the Park. He always was giving us a bad time by teasing us, if any of us left town. We always had to update him about our latest trips. Jake was always so very friendly and with a wonderful attitude. Jake always remembered my Grand daughter Ashley's birthday, by placing a card on my daughters car to give to Ashley. He also gave her a hat one Christmas, and an orchid to Jane. All the dogs also loved him, and greeted him with a special wag of their tails to show their love for Jake.
Jake was one of the special joys of walking early in the morning and will be greatly missed by all of us.
It was always fun to hear him address the "big boys" regarding what should be done as far as improvement at our park. He was always applauded by his statements, as they were always fair and true, and sincerely from his heart. He was an advocate for all us "off leash" dog people...and greatly appreciated.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers at this very sad time for your family. I pray time will ease your sorrow. We all loved Jake.
