Jacqueline M. Curtis-Faker's Obituary
Jacqueline Marguerite (Merritt) Curtis-Faker (1936-2025) went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 5th, 2025 in Auburn, Washington. Jackie was just one month from her 89th birthday. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Carlyle Merritt and Marguerite Leola Snodgrass and moved to Tacoma when she married at 19 to Howard Faber where her parents had located to, along with her sister Carolyn and her husband, Lew Walker. A daughter was born to her and Howard in 1956. She worked for Puget Sound Hospital and Puget Sound back before her daughter was born. After 6 years of being home taking care of her daughter she obtained a job with the Tacoma School district as a secretary to the counselors at Wilson High School. This was she could enjoy summers and breaks from school to spend time with her daughter. Jackie retired from the district after 30 years of service. During her working years at Wilson, Jackie met and married John Curtis and spent many wonderful years with John and his family. She and John traveled to Alaska and Hawaii and had fun times in Packwood with friends. After John passed away she met and married Larry Faker. Jackie and Larry then traveled the United States in their motor home and eventually found a home in Arizona where they spent winters. Jackie was an animal lover and rescuer. She volunteered with a cat rescue group to help find homes for them by helping with adoptions. She often fostered kittens at her home and enjoyed watching them play. She loved to watch the birds, squirrels, and rabbits that came to her yard. At one time she belonged to the Tacoma Agate Club in Tacoma. She enjoyed looking for a variety of rocks like sapphires, garnets, Ellensburg blues, agates, petrified wood, and some native artifacts from California. Jackie was predeceased by her husband Larry, sister Carolyn Walker of Gig Harbor, her half sister Genevieve of Iowa, her step son Mark Curtis of Olympia. Jackie is survived by her daughter Peggie (Jeff) of Gig Harbor and grandchildren J.C. (Kassie) of Burley, Michelle (Rick) of Gig Harbor, and Ryan (Angela) Foster of Fife, great grandchildren twins Colby and Presley Fuller of Gig Harbor and Savina Foster of Burley. Jackie is also survived by her sister Charlotte Schroeder, 95 years of age and is survived by nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
