Jacqueline A. Bartholomew's Obituary
Jacqueline Bartholomew (1936-2016), beloved wife of Owen Bartholomew, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13, 2016. Funeral services will be held on May 18, 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7520 25th Ave East, Tacoma, WA 98404. Viewing will begin at 10:00 am.
Jackie was born in Tucson, Arizona to Nephi Hartman Huber and Florence Louise Whitton, and grew up in Springville, Utah. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was 13 years old and spent the rest of her life following Christ, keeping His commandments, and spreading the Savior’s love to others. After graduating from high school she married Owen Bartholomew. As a military family they moved often. Jackie created a welcoming home no matter where they lived.
In spite of a number of health problems, her 80 years were filled with selfless service to God, family, and strangers, who always became friends. Her service included three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including service in Fiji, Papua-New Guinea, and Australia, where she loved the people and provided spiritual and temporal assistance. She spent time caring for the poor and needy, teaching children and adults, visiting the sick, along with providing meals and transportation. In addition, she loved to search out her ancestors and spent endless hours tracing her family tree.
Jackie loved life and enjoyed the support of her loving husband for more than 60 years. She nurtured a wonderful posterity, including 3 sons, 4 daughters, 25 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
There was certainly rejoicing in Heaven as Jackie was welcomed home.
