Jackie Lee Welden's Obituary
Our beloved Dad, Jackie Lee Welden passed away on October 11, 2017 in Boise, ID. He was the eldest son of LeRoy L. and Lillie E. Welden. He was born in Independence, Kansas on August 10, 1929. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 at the age of 17 and served in Japan. He was very proud of being a World War II veteran. Dad married Imogene Pearl Tribbett on May 29, 1949 in Coeur d’Alene, ID. He dealt with MS for 60 years of his life and was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Dad said he lived a great life, had a wonderful family and had no regrets. He was able to visit with many family members in his final days which made him extremely happy.
He loved living at the Mallard Point Apartments on his own in his lovely patio apartment. He enjoyed putting lots of flowers on his patio and decorating his apartment door for whatever holiday it was. He looked forward going to bingo and visiting with all the friends that he had there. He also loved going to the casino and playing his favorite machine, Hoot Loots.
We will miss him greatly but we know he is now with Mom, Imogene, who passed in 1989 at the age of 57 of cancer. I’m sure they are happily together again, dancing and that Dad can finally walk easily and without his walker.
Jack is survived by his five of his eight children, Cathleen Welden and VERY SPECIAL PARTNER - James Kochaver (Dad's other son); Judy Kelterborn and her husband Mike; Carolyn Hanson and her husband Gordon; Merri Libutti and her husband Mike and Sandy Kershner and her husband Jeff; two brothers; Arthur Welden/wife Dolores; Joe Welden/wife Ruth Ann; two sisters; Lillie Tribbett & Rosie Pagay; twenty grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack's wife, Imogene (1989), daughter, Kathy Ann (1950) and two sons, David (1998) and Jack (2017) preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on October 20, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery in Lakewood, WA.
