Jack Alton Lochner's Obituary
LTC Jack Alton Lochner Ret., born Ft. Wayne, IN, February 6, 1931, passed away July 6, 2015, at Madigan Army Medical Center. Jack was a Congressional appointee to West Point Academy where he graduated June 1954. Jack served in the Army for 25 years – a career that took him and his wife/family across the United States as well as Germany, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, and Korea. He retired from the Army in 1979 and opened a small business in Tacoma –Lochner’s Fine Woodworking. Jack dearly loved restoring and crafting fine pieces of furniture at his shop until he experienced a stroke in 1999. While he was no longer able to generate sawdust, he soldiered on for the next 16 years with a quick wit and disarming sense of humor enjoying family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorene Lochner, as well as his children Terry (Linda) Lochner; Sherrill (Mark) Hilliard; Barbara (Ed) Anderson; and Debra (Geoff) Doyle. In addition, he leaves behind his grandchildren Kristin (Pete) Forbes; Tara Lochner; Avery Hilliard; Bryan, Erin, and Kelly Anderson; and Cameron Doyle; as well as his great grandchildren Brianna Lochner; Kaylee and Riley Forbes. We are very grateful for his service to our country and mostly for demonstrating love and devotion to our family always. The family will hold a private interment but anyone wishing to honor Jack is invited to make a donation in his memory to the American Stroke Association, www.strokeassociation.org.
