Jack Eugene Morton's Obituary
Jack was born in Sunnyside, WA, on June 13, 1912, and passed away July 13, 2005, just after celebrating his 93rd birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lois. He is survived by his son Gary and wife Donna, and his daughter Lynn Tebbutt, husband Ed. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Kim, Dean, Scott, Charles Blaine, Melanie, and Neil, two foster grandchildren, Shelley and Bill; as well as four great-grandchildren: Robert, Mikaela, Lydia, and Skyler. Jack was a lifelong resident of Tacoma and a hard worker, walking seven miles a day as a boy to deliver papers for a penny apiece. He started working for Tacoma Golf and Country Club as a caddy when he was sixteen, and soon thereafter, when Prohibition was repealed, he became the clubÂ's first bartender. Jack had a sly wit and was always quick with a joke; he had a talent for making everybody feel at ease.He enjoyed golfing, playing dominoes, and reading, but his real passion was the water; he spent five years in the Navy, built boats and often talked about a fishing trip he took to Alaska as the bartender on a fifty-foot ship. There will be a memorial service held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2005 at Mountain View Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Multicare Health Foundation Hospice at PO Box 5296, Tacoma, WA, 98415.
