Aunt Ann, Wade and Allen...I just learned this week of Uncle Turner passing away. Its been a long time since I have seen you guys...1968? Uncle Turner still looks like I remember him...such a kind man. You both were blessed by 66 years of marraige..wonderful. Wade and Allen, sorry you lost your Dad. Our prayers are with you all. Dad was a quiet man who did not readily express his feelings. I learned over time that this was common among many of the "Greatest Generation" who grew up during the Depression and World War II. They had been toughened by their circumstances and were uncomfortable with public expressions of feelings. My dad was also part of a very large family living hard, rural lives in the deep south.
It is difficult to appreciate how these experiences as well as being in a war torn area, particularly, Dachau, at the conclusion of the war could affect an 18 year old kid from the rural south who had never been away from home. He thought he had been through tough times, but he saw firsthand how bad things could really be.
Even though he was not very expressive of his feelings, I knew our family was loved. He worked hard and showed his love by being a provider. He made sure we had a safe and secure home. He did not gamble, drink alcohol or ever abandon his responsibilities. He was dedicated to his kids and wife of 66 years.
My dad never tried to build himself up, brag or pretend to be something he was not. He was a quiet, reserved, unpretentious and honorable man.

I love you for the journey we took 66 years ago.We shared a lot of things as life went on.We loved and raised two wonderful sons.From that four wonderful grandsons came along and now a great granddaughter and great grandson.We also love the two wonderful daughter-in-laws (Jan and Jane) that came into our lives.

Turner, you are still here in so many ways. We see it in the honor you instilled in your sons, and they instilled in your grandchildren and great grandchildren. Your humor has been passed down as well. And your love and devotion to family remains strong, thanks to your example! As your daughter in law, I will always be so thankful for the son you raised and the lessons you taught him and Wade taught our sons. Their (your) humor makes my life brighter. You have four amazing grandsons, sons that any parent would be very proud to call their own. Much of the credit for that goes to you! You, quietly, made a difference in so many lives. Miss you! Jane

What a guy! Each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Korum YMCA, you could find Turner walking his mile at the track while pushing his walker. Then, he'd work out on some of the machines. Finally, he'd take a seat and watch people (especially the ladies) walk on by. My enjoyment came while quietly visiting with him about his days in the air force, his family times, and his moments with friends. Quiet, but with a twinkle in his eye. What a guy!
