Ivy Jean Burks' Obituary
Beloved wife, mother and friend, 79, passed May 18, 2013 in Tacoma, WA. Jean was born in Liverpool, England on August 18, 1933, the fourth child of Henry and Ann (Williams) Webster. Her early years were shaped by WW II, as a girl she enjoyed dancing and helped to support her family. She was married in England to Charlie Burks of Natick, MA in 1953 while he was serving with the USAF. Jean and Charlie were stationed in numerous overseas and state side bases during his time in the USAF. Jean was a mother and homemaker dedicated to providing for her family.
Jean enjoyed relaxing with family and friends, supporting Lakewood youth soccer, working on crossword puzzles and spending time at the casino. She was also a long time member of the Association of Retired Enlisted Wives (AREWS) involved in bowling and meeting events.
Jean is survived by her sons Mark (Dawn) of Arlington, TX, and Scott of Lakewood, grandchildren Andrew, Nicole, Hope, and Hayley, great grandchildren Jack, Tyler, and Asher, sister Irene Dunn and numerous relatives and friends.
