Ivan E. Lackey's Obituary
Ivan Estill Lackey, Jr., 95 of Tacoma was born on February 11, 1923 in Galveston Texas and passed away in Lakewood, WA. on November 20, 2018. Ivan is survived by his daughter Joyce Bachelder, 6 grandchildren Robyn, Dan, Cheryl, Hannah, Jaimee and Sean, and 4 great grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Emma and Brian, He is preceded in death by his wife Marion (2008), his sons Dennis Lee (1978) and Robert Mark (2007) and his brother Lawrence David Lackey (2012). Ivan was a WWII Army Air Corp veteran,1943-1946. While stationed in Ephrata, WA. he met the love of his life Marion...they were a match made in heaven! They met in June 1944 and were married in September of the same year. After retirement from the State of Washington as chief accountant at Western State Hospital, he and Marion made trips to many countries worldwide and spent over 25 winters in Mazatlan, Mexico. When not traveling they made many, many trips to the coast to walk endless miles on the beach. Ivan was a man with a great sense of humor, an incredible memory, an avid reader who loved and studied history. He will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held on November 30 at 2:30 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to one of two organizations which were close to his heart; Disabled American Veterans, www.dav.org or National Wildlife Federation, www.nwf.org.
