Iupeliauro Niuatoa's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Iupeli’auro Niuatoa. He passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in University Place, WA at the age of 74. He was born in Pago Pago, American Samoa on June 1, 1950.
He is survived by his sisters Suluia Niuatoa Tovia of Elma, WA, Faumatala Niuatoa Lo’a of Las Vegas, NV, Sinira Niuatoa Iaulualo of San Diego, CA & Ainoama Niuatoa Apineru of Manu’a, American Samoa along with his brothers Rev. Fautua Niuatoa, Sr. of San Francisco, CA, Michael Molimau Niuatoa of Oceanside, CA & Dr. Moreli Tuluiga Niuatoa of Pava’ia’i, American Samoa. Iupeli’auro is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great/great-great nieces, great/great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents the late High Talking Chief Moreli Niuatoa & Mrs. Taisea Faimalo Niuatoa along with his sisters Me Niuatoa, Fa’afouina Niuatoa Alai & Lilieni Niuatoa Ve’e of American Samoa, sister Fonoa Niuatoa Tuiofea of Anchorage, AK & brother Utagamamao Moreli Niuatoa of San Francisco, CA.
Iupeli’auro, also known as “Jubie or “Jubilee,” graduated from Samoana High School in American Samoa & graduated in 1968. He served in the Marine Corps, working as an engineer in the Infantry Division.
Iupeli’auro was a kind, soft spoken, yet private person. He loved attending church as this was a key component in his upbringing within his family. He enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to church songs & Jimmy Swagger. He enjoyed spending time with his family & fishing.
