Isidor Jacob Kirshrot's Obituary
Colonel Isidor Jacob Kirshrot USA (ret)Colonel Kirshrot, a Holocaust survivor, was born in Minden, Germany on February 11, 1919 and arrived in the United States via Poland and England in 1940. He entered the United States Army in March 1942 as a Private and retired in 1974 as a Colonel. He served in Europe during World War II, Korea, Vietnam and on several assignments on bases in the United States. After his retirement from the military, he settled in Tacoma and taught as an assistant professor at Saint MartinÂ's College in Lacey, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Captain Lorena R. Kirshrot. His daughter, Charlotte H. Beall of Kauai, Hawaii; son, Herbert S. Kirshrot of Portland, OR; as well as his granddaughters, Tristana Fernandez-Dawe, Triana Fernandez, and Alexa Kirshrot and three great-grandchildren survive him. He will be greatly missed by his Family and friends. He was a member of the Tacoma Elks, the Retired Officers Association, the Military Order of World Wars and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery at 11:30am, Thursday, May 29, 2003. Memorial contribution may be sent to the charity of your choice.
