Irving William Bouchard's Obituary
Irving Bouchard, age 66, passed away on August 4, 2015 in Lakewood, Washington. Irving was born August 3, 1949 in Waterville, Maine to Alma (Duprey) Bouchard and William Joseph Bouchard. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend—loved by everyone who met him. Irving worked as a machinist at Central Maine Railroad for 20 years, but his real passion was carpentry. He was a true craftsman who could build or fix anything, whether it be making custom kitchen cabinets or refurbishing an old car. He was a thrifty guy easily making a bargain, but more importantly he was always willing to help others even complete strangers. He would give advice to make someone’s life easier or give them food if he knew they were hungry and in need, never expecting anything in return. He was close to his younger brother Dale and took him under his wing like a son because their father passed at such a young age. He was a man who always put his family first, always letting us know we were cared for and loved. Irving had so many interests, it is difficult to list them all. He was at home when he was in nature and loved to hunt, fish and pick berries. He could spot a ripe berry a mile away! He grew large, beautiful vegetable gardens and was a master at making homemade bread and wine.
In Maine, during the summer, he enjoyed spending time with his family having barbeques and eating lobster on the coast. During the Maine winters, he walked miles collecting maple sap to distill into delicious syrup. In later years, living in North Carolina, Irving spent time building beautiful cabinets for his own home, proudly growing 7ft tomato plants and rebuilding guns for sport with his son. His hope was to move to Washington State and build a small house on the Key Peninsula for him and his loving wife, Debbie. His last days were happily spent with family in WA, going on a scenic railroad train ride, watching his daughter get married, enjoying seafood dinners and taking pictures at the Point Defiance zoo.
Irving is survived by his wife Debbie, son Ethan and daughter Lisa. He also leaves behind his sisters, Carrie, Belinda and Amanda and his brother Dale. He is predeceased by his father William, mother Alma and his brother Alton.
To honor Irving’s wishes, there will be no service held.
