Irmgard Austin passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on July 5, 1938, in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she spent her early years before eventually making her home in the United States.
Irmgard was a devoted and hardworking woman who took great pride in her career. She worked for many years in housekeeping at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington, where she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and quiet dedication to those around her.
Above all, Irmgard cherished her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who found joy in the lives and accomplishments of her loved ones. Her strength, resilience, and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Irmgard is survived by her daughter, Silvia Lewis of North Tonawanda, New York; and her two grandsons, Joshua Gnirk and Aaron Gnirk, who will carry forward her memory and legacy.
She will be remembered with love and respect by her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed.
