Irene E. OatesHeaven has another angel. Irene E. Oates passed away July 12, 2004 at the age of 74. She was born April 27, 1930 in Dallas, Oregon to Jessie and George Zink. Irene faced every challenge in her life with courage and grace including her final challenge with cancer.Irene is survived by her daughters, Laura (Michael) Meyer and Julie (Hugh) Watson; grandchildren, Aaron Meyer and Birni Meyer; brother, Martin Johnson; sisters, Judy Grimsley and Mary Ann (Darrell) Carpenter; nephews, James Rumsey, Dana Grimsley, Mark Grimsley, Jake Johnson; nieces, Marti Johnson, Michelle Johnson; brother-in-law, Delano (Dorothy) Casten; and cousin, Arnie (Ruth) Lindsay.Irene was predeceased by her former husband, Charles Oates and her niece, Malinda Cockrell.Irene was employed as a bookkeeper in Tacoma for over 30 years. She worked at the Pierce County Health Department for several years. She retired from the Tacoma Club in 1995, after more than 15 years of service.You will be in our hearts forever.A celebration of IreneÂ's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
