Hurley R. Jones
"HRJ"
August 19, 1913 - July 22, 2013
Hurley was born to Ewing and Goldie Jones in Mode, Illinois and moved west as a child. He was the oldest of five children. He has a brother Don of Phoenix, Arizona and sister Wanda Hill of Tacoma, Washington. Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Orville, sister Dorothy Lemon, Granddaughter Leslie Holbert, and his wife Eula.
In 1925, Hurley met and married Eula Peabody. They made their home in Milton where they raised eight children. Their marriage lasted fifty years until her death in 1986.
Hurley was a straight forward kind of guy - if he thought it, you probably heard it. He was also funny and hardworking always having the biggest and best garden in the neighborhood. He loved to play music including the guitar, the harmonica and on occasion even the piano. He enjoyed nature - hunting, fishing, picking mushrooms, the mountains, ocean and especially his own one acre yard.
Hurley's career spanned many many years at Kaiser Aluminum Plant in Tacoma, Washington where he was a crane operator. When Kaiser shut down for a time, he went to work temporarily for Park and Shop grocery store. Then back to Kaiser until his retirement at 67years of age. He and Mom enjoyed a bit of traveling around but mostly just enjoyed being at "the place" (home)! Hurley is survived by his eight children: Ron (Betty), LaVonne Kamenzind (Tom), Mary Ellis (Gary), Marjory Burke (Bill), Peggy Pando, Sally Strand, Susan Keocke, and Becky Whidby (Will). His legacy also includes 24 Grandchildren, 52 Great Grandchildren, and 9 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was in interesting Man.
Rest in peace, Dad
