Just hearing about this 18months later. Brother, I was just going to give you a call. Howard liked talking about his childhood outside of LA, loved his family - talked endlessly about his son and grandkids. He was humble, funny, and extremely witty. He also talked a lot about his mom, even after she passed. He had a great sense of family. He was an awesome mentor, fellow ARMY retiree, patriot, and just an all-around great guy, always kind - infectious!! Brother, I’m gonna miss ya, wow… We always called each other ‘brother’ out of a sense of heartfelt oneness with every other vet… Shalom, my friend. We will see each other again.

You will be greatly missed. When I first got to Ft Lewis you shared your vast knowledge of Reserve Pay with me which translated to all the knowledge that I have and use to date. I was very sad to hear about Howard's passing, I was a coworker of his and devoted Seahawks fan, everyday Howard and I would talk about the football teams and his beloved Rams and whether they or the Seahawks would come out on top for the season, we would discuss the draft and upcoming potentials. I recall thinking about Howard during the Rams run and hoping he was able to get to see them and their chance in the Superbowl. Howard was a good man and positive presence, he is missed. My condolences to the family.

I met Howard in 2010 after arriving to JBLM assigned to the 9th Finance. He was a kind, friendly man always willing to help anyone in the office. We had plenty of conversations about how the corp was when he served and how its changed since he had retired. Never a dull conversation with Howard. Rest easy my brother.
