Howard Dale Wilmoth's Obituary
Howard Dale Wilmoth was born on May 25, 1938, in Portales, New Mexico passed away in his sleep November 13, 2025 in Tacoma, WA.
Howard was the first of four children born to Dale and Iva Wilmoth. Steve joined the family in 1941, shortly before the family moved to Morenci, Arizona where Dale worked for the copper mine. The family grew to include Jim in 1951 and Cathy in 1955.
After high school, Howard joined the Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Canberra and quite literally got to “see the world” during peacetime in the late 1950’s. After discharge he moved to San Francisco to study history. He later went into remodeling houses with brother Steve. Howard then went on to work as a carpenter for the next 30 years on projects such as the Central Arizona Project (CAP), a huge canal that brings water from the Colorado river to Arizona and several casinos in and around Las Vegas, including the MGM Grand.
Howard retired in 1995 and moved back to Arizona to be with his mother after Dale's death. In 2002, Howard and Iva moved to Washington state to be near Cathy and her husband Marco Tyler. Iva moved in with Cathy and Marco until her death in 2005. Howard moved to Tacoma and proceeded to explore and enjoy the beautiful Puget Sound Region until his death.
Howard was preceded in death by both brothers, Steve in 2018 and Jim in 2019. He is survived by sister Cathy of Kingston, WA, niece Jamie, daughter Savannah of Tacoma, niece Robin, her son Liam and daughter Mei in France, cousin Pat Craig of Playa Del Rey, CA, and Chandra Arnhold, the best caregiver ever.
