Homer Alfred Williams' Obituary
HOMER ALFRED WILLIAMS SR.
Homer was born July 5, 1917 in Greenville, Georgia to the late Willie and Alberta Williams. He passed away peacefully November 13, 2008 in Lakewood WA at the age of 91. The youngest of 3 sons, his family moved to Philadelphia in 1924. It was there as a youth, he met the love of his life, Josephine Woods. The two were married on August 19, 1940 and that union was blessed with 5 children. Homer had two loves: his family and the U.S. Army. He joined the Army in 1935 and served his country honorably until his retirement in 1960 while stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. His military career took him all over the world, but it was Fort Lewis and Tacoma that held a special place for Homer and his family. Upon his retirement, the family returned to Philadelphia and years later after raising their children, Homer and his bride decided to return back to Tacoma. He is preceded in death by his beloved Josephine, daughter Doris, sons Randy and Homer Jr., grandchildren Dorothe and Vincent. Homer leaves to cherish his memory, sons Paul Sr., Ernest, nephews Dr. Ernest Williams and Leroy, grandchildren Tyrone, Paul Jr., Elgin, Karl, Rosheena, Traci, Nicole, Michael, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of extended relatives and friends. The Williams family would like to extend a special thank you and love to Mr. and Mrs. Murphy for your untiring friendship and support to your friend "Bub" over the years. Our family would also like to extend our gratitude to the staff and residents at Lakewood Healthcare center for the wonderful care and kindness showed to Homer during his final days. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008, in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA.
