Hisako (Sue) Horne's Obituary
Hisako(Sue) Horne passed away on January 15, 2017, age 87, with her children and several grandchildren by her side. She was born in Osaka, Japan, on Feb.2, 1929, one of four girls of Tokumatsu and Masae Sugita.
Hisako was a nurse in Osaka when she met an American soldier stationed there. Hisako and Elbert Horne married in 1954, and when Elbert was transferred stateside in 1956, they bought a home in Parkland. Elbert passed away in 1994, and Hisako lived in the same home for 60 years.
Hisako worked for the Franklin Pierce School District as a food service baker. She had many talents, as well. She was an accomplished artist. She knitted and crocheted items that won awards at the Puyallup Fair.Hisako created floral arrangements for church with flowers from
her own garden. She loved to cook Japanese dishes for her family and friends. She loved the Seattle Mariners (especially Ichiro Suzuki) and never missed a game. Most of all, Hisako was a proud, loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She touched so many lives in her time on Earth, and will be deeply missed by all.
Survived by three children, James (Haidee) of Sammamish, John (LeAnne) of Puyallup, and Judie (Mike) Pederson of Tacoma. Grandchildren Rebekah and Spenser Horne, Ashley and Nathan Horne, and Tyler and Christina Pederson.
There will be a viewing at Mt.View Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, 4 to 8 pm.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, 11 am at the Mt. View Funeral Home Valley Chapel. A reception will follow from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 6511 South "C" St. Tacoma, WA.
