Hideko Wynn's Obituary
Hideko Wynn
May 11, 1945 to December 12, 2015
Hideko Wynn was born in Akita, Japan. She was the third child of Haru and Katsuzo Sakauchi. She spent her childhood in Japan with sisters, Shoko and Emiko, and brothers, Mitsuzo and Tamotsu. She moved to Tokyo to work, and it is there where she met, fell in love, and married her husband, Thomas J Wynn III.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed traveling, gardening, flower arrangements, karaoke, and sewing. She moved often as a military spouse and lived in Japan, Germany, Okinawa, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, and ultimately settled down in Steilacoom, Washington.
She enjoyed spending time with her daughters. Barbara, her oldest daughter, lived locally in the Puget Sound area. They would often go on local outings together as well as share sewing wisdom and gardening ideas. She regularly provided recipes, cooking tips, and motherly advice to her daughters. She also had many opportunities to travel all over the world while visiting her younger daughter, Michelle, who is also a military spouse, and her two grandchildren, to beautiful places like England, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, Japan, and Alaska.
A devout Buddhist, she has been practicing for almost 50 years. She will always be remembered for her generous heart, helping others, and caring of friends.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Thomas, daughters Barbara (Aurelio) and Michelle (Michael) and two grandchildren, Miles and Mason, all of whom loved her dearly.
A celebration of her life and reception will be held at Mt. View's Aspen Chapel, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hideko Wynn's memory to Multicare Health Foundation, Multicare Regional Cancer Center at Tacoma General Hospital,
P.O. Box 5296, Tacoma, WA 98415
